Whether you’re a fan of Hedi Slimane’s work or not, you’ll have to agree with me on one thing: He’s a game changer. The man was responsible for introducing a whole new zeitgeist in menswear during his reign at Dior Homme from 2001 to 2007, where the suits were skinny and the attitude was elegantly tough. And when Kaiser Karl loses a significant amount of weight to fit into one of your highly sought-after suits, you’ve probably done something right.
Now that Slimane is weaving his magic at Saint Laurent Paris, he has brought musicians front and centre with the Saint Laurent Music Project, tapping on the likes of Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson and Kim Gordon to be the faces of the French brand. Now, he introduces the elusive electro duo, Daft Punk, as the stars of the current campaign. From their glow-in-the-dark spacesuits, Daft Punk now don black, glittery smoking jackets designed by Slimane himself, exuding elegance and a whole lot of cool. See for yourself.
